Style is about being yourself in whatever way makes you feel the most you. The coolest part of New York Fashion Week Men’s (#NYFWM) is seeing all the ways in which folks creatively use their style to tell stories. To tell my story, I linked up with Joseph Abboud to design a suit to celebrate their 30th Anniversary runway show. I had to put together something special.
What do you think? I’ve always felt that there was something really smooth (pun intended) about velvet, but I had never really had the opportunity to rock it. This show was the opportunity I was waiting for so I had to go for it. Honestly, style is also about comfort — the suit is nice & heavy for winter, plus I paired it with a thick, black turtleneck.
Going to the show was amazing. Joseph chose a decommissioned church with an elaborate runway set up and a live chamber orchestra to showcase his F/W’17 #MadeInAmerica work. If you know me, you know I played the cello for over 15 years, so it was dope to get to watch the show with some beautiful music. Plus, I’ve always been fascinated by church architecture. Honestly, it was just dope.
From start to finish, it’s always a good time hanging out with the Joseph Abboud family. #BeYouBeGreat
