It’s been a few super hectic weeks but now that things have settled down a bit, I want to share my experience during the most recent New York Men’s Fashion Week for the Spring and Summer of 2017. This is only my second fashion week (I went to the Winter one this past February) so it’s still got that cool aura around it. Check out some of the looks I put together:
There were a couple of stand out collections for me that managed to be super creative and super wearable. I’m all about thinking outside the box, but plenty of collections were cool to appreciate as art, not actually wear. First up, David Hart put together a dope & diverse presentation:
Next, Perry Ellis with some cool twists on what would otherwise be pretty conserative and classic:
Then, Tommy Hilfger came through with a bunch of pieces that are super bright and flashy, yet I still found myself wanting most of them:
Lastly, I was able to go to the Todd Synder runway show and was even able to sit front row. It was an awesome collection and (just like last fashion week), Todd Snyder closed out the week with some heat:
One of the other dope parts of NYFWM is that the community of people in men’s fashion will get together and throw some just for fun events. It’s really a week of artisitic displays and hanging out with awesome folks who love what they do. I’m always humbled by it because I’m very much still learning the ropes in fashion. For example, Mr. Porter threw a block party in Soho, which was sick:
I think it’s safe to say it was a dope week with dope people and dope art!
P.S. — If you’ve joined the party on Snapchat (@samwhiteout), then you know I started fooling around playing tennis now and then with Ryan. We were able to jump in on a Lacoste tennis clinic at the end of the week, and it was awesome! In case you’re wondering, I won 🙂
