Sleep Out: So They Don’t Have To

I have a challenge for you. I challenge you to imagine having to worry about when your next meal is and where you are going to sleep at night. This is a daily challenge for too many kids. But we can help them.
We need to help them.

Youth homelessness is a devastating problem facing every major U.S. city, including Philadelphia. The Covenant House provides shelter & food homeless youth under 21 along with educational, residential, & professional support services. Even if you are unable to attend the Sleep Out on March 18th, you can still help. Our goal is $3,000.

More than 25% of former foster children become homeless within two to four years of leaving the system.

It is absolutely critical that we offer support and opportunities to those who are most in need. No kid should have to worry about where they will lay their head to rest on any given night. You can help alleviate that worry. Your donation can be the difference.

Almost 40% of the homeless in the United States are under 18.

I have been afforded so many opportunities allowing me room to grow and achieve, and I continue to be supported by those around me. We need to do the same for these young people, so they can be great. You can help them be great. Whether it’s $20 or $200, it helps these kids.

In 2013, Covenant House provided services to more than 56,000 kids.

While the Covenant House continues to provide a safe bed and a hot meal — not to mention access to education & professional development resources — for youth all across Philadelphia, we must do our part. Too often, we feel as though we are too small to solve big problems. That doesn’t have to be true. You can effect change. We can do this together.

41% of Covenant House kids witnessed acts of violence in their former homes.
